Sam Hunt is a museum and heritage consultant. He was previously Executive Director of AIM, the Association of Independent Museums. Sam has extensive experience of the sector; supporting change management and strategic planning in museums and galleries across the UK and developing new business models to secure long- term financial resilience and attract new audiences.
He has held a number of senior positions including Chief Executive of the South West Museums Libraries and Archives Council, Head of Bath Museums Service responsible for managing the Roman Baths Museum, the Museum of Costume, Bath Archaeological Trust and Victoria Art Gallery and Senior Curator at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter.
Sam is a Fellow of the Museums Association and has a Diploma in Museum Studies from Manchester University. He is a Trustee of the National Maritime Museum Cornwall and the South West Heritage Trust, and Vice Chairman of Lyme Regis Museum in Dorset, a lead attraction within the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
Sam is currently working with the local community in the City of Wells in Somerset to purchase a nationally important heritage building as a multi-purpose cultural and commercial development within the historic Cathedral precinct.
